Communication strategy for the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI)
The Alder Group worked in partnership with Ingenium Communications to develop a comprehensive communications strategy on Core Competencies for the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI). The Alder Group conducted extensive research, key informant interviews, international benchmarking as part of the strategy development process.
Research and writing of Active & Free: Young Women, Physical Activity and Tobacco
The Alder Group, researched, wrote, designed and produced Active & Free for the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women in Sports and Physical Activity.
This resource is a practical tool to support teachers, coaches, recreational workers and parents in encouraging a healthy lifestyle for young women by keeping them physically active and tobacco-free. The Alder Group carried out the project management, project planning, research and literature review, writing, translation, design, desktop publishing, production, as well as the communications and dissemination plan of the resource.
Towards a Healthier Workplace: A Guidebook on Tobacco Control Policies and Clearing the Air in Workplaces: A Guidebook for Developing Effective Tobacco Control Policies
The Alder Group performed an environmental scan of print and web-based resources, which was used to inform the development of the guides. The materials included sections for employers and employees, policy options and samples, tools and handouts, presentation materials, contact list, and successful case stories. The Alder Group also developed a framework for pilot testing the guidebooks, drafted promotion and dissemination plans targeting intermediaries to announce and distribute the guidebooks, and edited and translated the guidebooks into French.
Chronic Disease Best Practice Portal
The Alder Group carried out key informant interviews, wrote an interview summary and developed a communications plan for the online database Canadian Best Practices Portal for Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention for the Public Health Agency of Canada. The portal is a virtual front door to an array of online evidence-based best practices, offering information on individual interventions and programs, systematic reviews, and resources for health promotion and chronic disease prevention. The Alder Group also produced a promotional online Flash presentation to present the main components of the portal to its target audiences.
Inventory of Evaluated Canadian Family Violence Programs
The Alder Group worked with the Canadian Council of Chief Medical Officers of Health to clarify the role and refine the mandate and methods of operation for the council. The assignment included a half-day meeting and key informant telephone interviews to facilitate the process.
