Project Management

Our general approach to project management has naturally evolved from our unwavering intention to help clients successfully reach project objectives. What sets us apart from others in the marketplace while doing so is The Process Blueprint™. If you are interested in results-based project management, you should be aware of this product.

Developed after over a decade of work in managing projects, the Blueprint uses a set of sequential planning tools and steps that are intuitively interrelated and can be built upon depending on the nature of the assignment. Each drives to one single goal: tangibly demonstrating success.

Consistent with the Project Management Institute's Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), one of the greatest advantages of The Process Blueprint™ is its adaptability to a range of project types and sizes. To manage a complex project, it is invaluable. Yet, its built-in ease of use and flexibility also serves to guide simpler, more straightforward assignments.

The Alder Group has managed hundreds of projects – large and small – on budget and on time, even under the tightest deadlines. The detail of our work plans is unparalleled in the industry; even the most minor of tasks is included and accounted for, allowing us to set clear, realistic, actionable expectations, and to mitigate risks proactively on a sustained basis throughout the lifecycle of a project. To this mass of experience and highly developed expertise, we add a strong conceptual approach, so that we find the right innovative methodologies to meet the specific goals unique to your project. As a learning organization, we apply lessons learned to our plans, and refine them on an ongoing basis.

At the front end of every project, The Alder Group managers place a strong emphasis on strategically analyzing and refining the project's objectives. Although this may be a relatively common first step in project management practice, our next priority, planning measurable outcomes, is often neglected. Working towards clearly identified measurable outcomes allows a project team to keep their eye on the prize, and provides an invaluable tool for assessing the progress and success, including return on investment, of the project. Public demand is rapidly growing for accountability from government, NGOs, and private sector businesses alike. Clear project objectives and the strategies to implement them, along with defined indicators of fulfilled outcomes, are your tools for ensuring that you are on track and on target to reaching your organization's objectives.

Managing a project is much more than simply providing oversight. It's about setting realistic expectations, and managing them. It's about clear, ongoing communications, both internally and externally. It's about identifying difficulties in advance, and guiding the project through the inevitable unforeseen challenges. It’s keeping an eye on the multitude of variables in the project equation, from time to financial resources, from quality to quantity of outputs. It’s visualizing how external factors impact on the coming together of all the project’s components. It's about providing the leadership to have all team members get there - and want to get there - together. It's about accountability.
