Strategic Planning

Take your vision and your drive, and you’ll have results. Add a clear, achievable plan, and you’ll have a road map to success. It sounds simple; but for many, strategic planning can seem daunting. Even though in many cases it can be as simple as taking a step back and asking the right questions, sometimes the answers do not match the organization’s vision, mission, and corporate goals. Worse yet, what happens when the organization’s strategic directions are obsolete? Or when there is no internal agreement on a project's objectives - what then? We’re here to help.
First and foremost, as a strategic ‘thinking’ firm, The Alder Group often asks clients to consider planning objectives in the light of both organizational (internal) strategic directions, and broader external issues in the public environment landscape. This process is often referred to in traditional strategic planning circles as performing an environmental scan, or conducting a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis. Many of our strategic planning projects do indeed follow such tried, tested and true steps; others have required a more creative, tailored approach. In the end, it's all about defining your desired end goal, and forging solutions to ensure that you achieve that result.
Imagine for a moment that you are one year from today, and you feel thrilled about your organization or project accomplishments. What would be the answer if you asked yourself this simple question: As I look back over this past year, what happened that made this progress possible?
To get there, you will undoubtedly be faced with numerous challenges that will need to be recognized and dealt with. Many opportunities will need to be leveraged. Your strengths will be called upon time and again.
Having a strategic plan allows you to anticipate these challenges and take advantage of key opportunities as they present themselves. Knowing your strengths will help you maximize the benefits of each step that you take.
The Alder Group has the talent to help you develop an achievable plan. We have the leadership skills to identify the issues with you and help you achieve a clear vision of the best direction to set, and course of action to take. We have the communications skills to make the conceptual, practical. We have the professionalism and creativity to help you along the way. And perhaps most importantly, we will provide you with the confidence you need to get there, knowing that you are backed by a highly experienced, expert team.
